Course Requirements • 2 Credits for graduation • 1 year = ½ credit • 1 Semester = ¼ credit

Fitnessgram Grades 7 – 12 Ø Pre-Test (Fall) Ø Post-Test (Spring) Ø Spring Test is also part of the semester 2 final exam Grade 12 Ø Certified seniors have the option to take the semester 1 and semester 2 final exams depending on GPA in class

Excuses Parental • Students are allowed two parental excuses for the whole year Medical • Short Term – two classes or less (in class) • Long Term – more than two classes (contract) • **Can have Dr. write a note with student limitations/conditions**
CONTRACTS MEDICAL • Blue Form: from physician for limited activity DISCIPLINARY • Assigned to Study Hall • Written Work • Responsible for all class material and written test • Assigned to Study Hall/Library • Must complete written assignments • Responsible for class handouts and unit tests • Double the work of medical contract
ABSENCES • If absent for two classes in one unit you MUST write one article summary. • Attach copy of article • 250 -300 words • Written or typed • Completed before end of unit • Possible make up in Fitness room
UNITS • Basic Units last 2 to 3 cycles • Units are repeated every 2 years • A lecture will be given at the start of every unit • A written test will be given at the end of each unit
SPORT EDUCATION UNIT • 4 TO 6 WEEKS • Simulate athletic event • Team assignments • Job assignments • Simulate season play (pre, in, post)

Weight Room Usage • After school hours possible • Must show dedication • First-timers should get Instruction from teacher • Misuse will disqualify students from using in the future
WARNING • Each year items are reported missing • Students are encouraged to use a school lock and keep valuables secured • Once attendance is taken the locker room will be locked and no one will be allowed inside until the end of class
Miscellaneous • PE folder- for possible handouts • Jewelry: All visible jewelry must be removed- it’s all about safety • Gum NOT ALLOWED- when in doubt, spit it out • Sneakers – must be tied tightly - No platforms, backless or heel straps • Do not pull or snap basketball rim unless you have a basketball in your hand to slam • No travel during period 3, 5, or 7 (lunch) • Must get permission to leave gym area
Misc. Part II • PE Clothes – must follow dress code • School issued sports uniforms are NOT allow in class • No cell phones • End of Class – stay in gym, door closed, behind heavy purple line on locker room side
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES Fire Drill • Gym – exit doors, walk toward tennis courts • Locker Room – exit outside, walk toward tennis courts Safe Area • Go to locker rooms • Sit in alphabetical order • Wait for instructions
