(e. g. hiss like a snake, moo like a cow, make a train sound, buzz like a bee). • Mouth movements: Explore different mouth movements. (e. g. blowing, sucking, tongue stretching and wiggling. ) • Robot talk: Find some objects and say the name of the object like a robot (sounding out) c-a-t. Then practise blending those sounds together to say the word cat.

Aspect 6: Voice sounds Activity ideas for ‘Listening and remembering sounds’. • Sound game: Ask your child to make sounds with their voices of different things such as animals, vehicles, a doorbell, a clock etc. You could record these sounds and then play them back and your child has to say what each sound is. • Chain games: Make a long sound with your voice, going higher and lower or louder and quieter (e. g. eeeee). Your child will copy the sound and will copy when you go higher/lower and louder/quieter.

You could make some masks to use for each animal. • Sound story time: Talk about how we can use our voices to add sounds to a story. Will the characters speak in a loud voice or a whispering voice? Will their voice be deep or high pitched? What noises will the vehicles make? Will the wind be howling?
