Phnom Penh Cambodia Katy Smith Travel Project Introduction
Phnom Penh, Cambodia Katy Smith Travel Project
Introduction Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia. It is located in the south-central region of Cambodia. Phnom Penh has some historical sites that I am dying to visit and breathtaking sights to look at. It has museums that I am looking forward to see like the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. As horrifying as that museum sounds, I am very excited to learn its history as it must be every interesting if there is a museum dedicated to something like genocide. Phnom Penh also has some very beautiful architecture, such as the Khmer sculpture in the National Museum of Cambodia and the Royal Palace, that I am dying to see and take pictures of. Along with those three attractions, I plan to go to the Children Park Koh Pich Amusement Park for a fun, noneducational experience.

It is thinly-sliced, charcoalgrilled pork served with rice and pickled veggies. I had an iced coffee with it, too. It’s not my usual combination of foods, but I ended up loving it. #tryingnewthings Link for picture: http: //luiinpenh. com/khm er-coffee/
Twitter Scrapbook: Day Two 12: 37 PM I went to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum today. The tour was very interesting, but I was deeply disturbed to be walking through the halls of a place where at least 12, 000 people were tortured and killed back in the 1970’s. #nobueno Link for pictures: https: //www. timetravelturtle. c om/tuol-sleng-genocidemuseum-phnom-penh/
Twitter Scrapbook: Day Three 3: 46 PM Today I went to the Royal Palace. The building has very pretty colors and Khmer roofing. It is the current residence of King Sihamoni, but I wish I was the one living there. #Iwish. Iwasroyalty Link to pictures: https: //www. britannica. co m/place/Royal-Palace. Phnom-Penh-Cambodia

I especially liked the little cars we got to ride there. I was always the fastest driver. #bumpercars Link to picture: https: //www. tripadvisor. com /Location. Photo. Direct. Twitter Scrapbook: Day Five 2: 57 PM This is the National Museum of Cambodia that I went to this afternoon. It is said to be the home to the “world’s finest” collection of Khmer sculpture, and, after visiting it today, I totally agree with that statement. My favorite sculpture was the one out front of the building because it looked like it was very happy. #happysculpture Link to pictures: https: //www. gocambodi a. tours/cambodiasnational-museum/
Dear Amya, My week has been so much fun in Phnom Penh, and I am a little sad to leave. My favorite part of the trip was going to the Children Park Koh Pich Amusement park. Even though it seems like a place for little kids, it was a lot of fun. You would have loved it, too. There were these little bumper cars that we could drive around in, and if you were here, we could have raced around in them to see who would win. The museums and the Royal Palace were good experiences to and had a lot of cool things look at, but they weren’t as fun as the park. Although, I did find this statue at the National Cambodia Museum that looked like it was on top of the world. Anyways, I found some soaps and candles up here in Phnom Penh for you to buy because they are apparently good souvenirs to buy for someone. I hop e you like them because I don’t have a gift receipt for them. As great as a trip it was, I can’t wait to go back home to tell you about it in more depth. I’ll see you soon!!! Sincerely, Katy
