Expedition Section Making the Expedition more achievable to more students Traditionally the Expedition section has been completed over many weeks at School and weekends in the Peak District. As you have heard previously things are changing in many cases for the better; the Expedition Section is perhaps the biggest change to date and one that has come with the blessing of HRH Prince Philip 23 March 2018

How is it going to be run? The expedition itself will be run by an Adventurous Activity Provider (AAP) called ICY Expeditions • We have a very good working relationship with this provider. The existing Cand. R Dof. E Team will be there to back up this work and provide pastoral care for the Students • All expedition equipment is provided, this includes Rucksacks, sleeping bags, tents & cooking equipment • All you need to provide is Walking Boots, Waterproofs, Outdoor clothes and Food for the weekend • All the groups are tracked by the latest Satellite Technology so we know where the students are every 5 minutes of the day • All leaders / supervisors are trained and DBS checked • Dates will be confirmed ASAP 23 March 2018
Costs…. We have tried to keep costs to an absolute minimum. The cost of the Expedition section is £ 185. 00. • We will be asking that this is paid by Direct Debit and will be broken down as follows • £ 65 non refundable deposit paid on the 1 st November • 6 payments of £ 20. 00 starting on the 1 st December with the last payment taken on the 1 st of May • The Direct Debit mandate is set up via the Cand. R Parents App available from the Cand. R Dof. E Group Website • To put this in context Mc. Auley School are charging £ 300. 00 to do Bronze!! 23 March 2018
Is it easy? Is it Fun? . . . It wouldn’t be worth doing if it was Easy!! I am not going to lie, it is hard work for a 13/14 year old to go out and look after themselves for 3 days, but what I can say is, it is one of the most rewarding experiences they will ever get the chance to do. I can still remember the fun and laughter I had doing my Bronze. Would I do it again – in the blink of an eye, most definitely yes… 23 March 2018
