Notice the use of warm and cool colors in the designs. Cool colors recede and warm colors pop out. Plan your color choices to create contrast & emphasize your design.
Draw an amorphous shape Amorphous shape/ Organic Shape A shape without clarity or definition; formless, indistinct, and of uncertain dimension. An illdefined or arbitrary shape. In art an amorphous shape would be opposed to geometric shapes. Can be used in art to define shapes which mimic the naturally developed curves found in living organisms.
Procedure: • Draw an Organic/ Amorphous Shape & fill your name inside of it. • Develop a design that radiates from your amorphous shape. • Use Scholastic Art magazine for ideas to incorporate into your design. • Plan your color choices in a way that creates contrast between the warm & cool colors.
Make your radial design begin at the amorphous shape and go out to the edges of your folder.
Criteria for Success • The student will… • Draw an organic/ amorphous shape in the center of the folder & fill the shape with their name. (use of the element shape) • Alternate warm & cool colors to emphasize the design. (use of the element color) • Use radial balance to create a design that radiates out from the organic/ amorphous shape. (use of the principle balance) • Use contrast in the placement of color choices to create visual interest in the design. (use of the principle contrast) • Show excellent craftsmanship in the folder design.
