FOLIO The N 5 folio makes up 30% of your overall grade. It is made up of two pieces: Creative - a 1000 word personal essay/reflective essay, a piece of prose fiction (e. g. short story, episode from a novel), a poem or set of thematically linked poems, a dramatic script (e. g. scene, monologue, sketch) Discursive - a 1000 word persuasive essay, an argumentative essay, a report for a specified purpose, a piece of transactional writing

PERSUASIVE WRITING The aim of persuasive writing is to persuade the reader towards the writer’s adopted point of view or purpose. It usually focuses on a single topic or issue and it will carry a sense of conviction, commitment or belief through the conscious manipulation of language to create an appropriate tone. Why use persuasive techniques? � They ensure you are HEARD � They make people take NOTICE � They HOOK YOUR READER/LISTENER

CHOOSING YOUR TOPIC There is no list of topics, the choice is yours. It is important to be aware of your own strengths. You are likely to write well if you: � Write about something you know � Write about something that genuinely interests you � Enjoy what you are writing.

INTRODUCTIONS (1) BODY IMAGE IN THE MEDIA Does the media affect body image? Without a doubt. . In today's society, the representation of beauty is a sizezero super model with the body of a goddess posted on billboards all around the world. Children are brought up playing with Barbie Dolls which have unattainable figures and are also impossible to achieve in life. This makes children believe that these appalling plastic dolls are what they should grow up to look like or else they aren't special/pretty enough. Because of unrealistic airbrushed images, many young women in particular become convinced that to be beautiful and happy, they must look like these examples. Should we educate our children to be more accepting of the normal range of body sizes and features? Or should we let them continue growing up to believe absolute nonsense?

INTRODUCTION (2) ANIMAL RIGHTS First if all I need to ask a serious question, would you wear your pet as a piece of clothing? or would you wear someone else's? I highly doubt it. The fur industry around the world uses poor, helpless and terrified animals to make clothes for you and I to wear. The methods used to retrieve the fur from these animals by so called "Farmers" are brutally barbaric! Thousands of animals are killed every year to make clothes, this isn't right! Why is it considered fashionable to murder innocent animals just to make a piece of clothing! In my opinion this should be stopped!

INTRODUCTION (3) MONEY IN FOOTBALL Football, the beautiful game, one of the most popular sports in the world, played in almost everywhere in the world, both professional and nonprofessional. with it being a professional sport for both men and women, and there being almost everywhere in the world where you play football professionally, the prices of the transfer of players from club to club league to league can vary. Also with the wage demands of players growing higher and ticket prices of matches going up as well as anything else in football, things are becoming a bit expensive. But, how much is the price of football?

CONCLUSION (1) BODY IMAGE IN THE MEDIA I believe that one of the biggest influences impacting many of us today is the force which the media puts on our shoulders each day to have ‘the perfect body’. Why do the media feel the need to put so much pressure on us all? Especially on young girls. People should try to stay positive about their looks and learn to love their flaws. Nobody should try to live up to society’s standards nowadays, as the standards today are impossible.

CONCLUSION (2) ANIMAL RIGHTS In conclusion I think the fur industry worldwide should be band! As it is purely animal cruelty and neglect! There are so many laws in place to stop animal cruelty yet fur industries are legal in many countries! Which is outrageous? So for heaven’s sake do the animals and the whole world a favour and ban these torture farms! So I will ask you again is a piece of clothing really worth it?

CONCLUSION (3) MONEY IN FOOTBALL What happened to the game? Since when did it cost so much to pay the players and buy the players? When did it all become about the money and not about the clubs and the honor of playing for a club? Not even UFFA or FIFA could save anyone now, even they’re cash mad. The people in charge of the beautiful game would rather see a fat check than fair play or democracy. No help for fans, no support for the supporters. Football and the clubs all seem to be a company, instead of passion and pride. The players no longer play for club and country, now for the money. That’s what football is now, money, and lots of it.

In conclusion, studies are moving more towards assisted suicide, I believe this would be a great idea, freeing those who suffer chronic and delegating pain, each day of their live, should have the one wish or choice they have left in there life’s, to be granted.

CONCLUSION (5) ARE PEOPLE TOO DEPENDENT ON TECHNOLOGY? Technology acts as a constant distraction in our lives no matter what we are doing and it means you miss a lot of what happens in real life. We are more focused on what is happening on a tiny screen in our hands rather than the world around us and if you are stuck using your phone while outside it make it more likely to cause injuries to you or people around you as you are not paying full attention to what is happening around you.
