INTRODUCTIONS (1) IS SEXUAL CONTENT TO EASILY ACCESSIBLE FOR CHILDREN? So, you’re online doing your weekly Tesco shop, browsing the football scores or playing bingo and more often than not unwanted porn and images of naked women will pop up on your screen. It’s happened to you and it’s more than likely to have happened to your children. All over the world children and teens are being bombarded with sexually explicit content, from the latest music videos to risqué advertisements to pornography. It’s everywhere. Each year around 40% of teens view sexually explicit content either accidentally or on purpose. Many children and teens accidentally stumble upon explicit videos and sites, for example children who like anime cartoons can go on google and searches anime and be faced with sexually explicit websites on the first page. Some could argue that we only talk about boys being sexual beings and that’s where all the blame usually goes, but we know that’s not true. On the other hand the subject pornography is a lot more of a subject more associated with boys. In a survey carried out amongst 16 to 17 year old boys, found that 38% of boys admitted to watching explicit videos on a regular basis along with 8% of girls which shows us that boys are a lot more heavily influenced by pornography than girls. Parents need to be taking control; they should block the websites before they get access to computers, parents should be less naïve believing their kids are too ‘angelic’ to be accessing pornographic and similar sites.
INTRODUCTION (2) DO YOUR GENES DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR JEANS? All our lives it has been driven into our brains that when you step on a scale and look down to see those dreaded numbers soaring ever higher it is because of the calories you eat or because you don’t exercise enough. The media demands that we “eat less, move more” - implying that weight gain is our own fault and that we as a nation are greedy, lazy gluttons. However, perhaps this is too simplistic. Maybe we should just stop eating all together and run on a wheel 24 hours a day like lab rats, airbrush every photo we take to make us look picture perfect at all times, or spend a substantial amount of money on surgeries to suck out our fat and make us all look like supermodels. Possibly there is more to the equation; the numbers on the scale may be beyond our control. Your genes influence your eye colour, hair colour and height; why not your weight too? We all know of someone who uses the classic excuse of being ‘big-boned’ but is there more to this expression? Studies have shown that humans have a predisposition for their weight set by their genes that can be triggered by other factors such as their surrounding environment and geographical location. Research has also highlighted the fact that there can be a strong genetic component for depression and anxiety disorders which can lead to weight problems on the other end of the spectrum such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia. For years we have been blamed for not managing our size, it seems unfair to hold us responsible when the true culprit is buried deep within us at microscopic levels.
INTRODUCTION (3) SHOULD FIFA INTRODUCE INSTANT REPLAYS? FIFA is thinking about introducing instant replays that will be played during football games; however, there are people that want this to happen also there are people that are against it. Ex FIFA President Sepp Blatter did not want this to happen as he said "Let it be as it is and let's leave (soccer) with errors. The television companies will have the right to say (the referee) was right or wrong, but still the referee makes the decision — a man, not a machine. " There are number of benefits and limits some of them are - football players might be more tired as the game time will increase, new rules will have to be introduced and old rules will have to be changed, founding’s and there will be more conflict between players and fans. Instant replays should not yet be introduced as there a lot of factors that need to be thought about in the coming years to improve the fairness of the game as this will be a huge change to the football industry.
INTRODUCTION (4) YOUNG GIRLS SHOULD GET FREE SANITARY PRODUCTS Luxury. We all want to live in luxury. Showing off your luxury products by swinging them around the place showing them off to everyone that walks past. But would you swing your tampon by the string to show everyone? The government has classed sanitary products as “luxuries” but are they? Do we decide to flush our uterus out once a month? Do they think that we are comfortable walking about with a sanitary towel stuck in between our legs? When you get to a certain age it’s just a normal thing and you’re not really embarrassed about it. But what about girls under the age of 16? They don’t know what’s happening. They are embarrassed even though it’s such a natural thing and it’s just part of growing up. We shouldn’t waste our money on something that isn’t our fault. It’s like having to pay to sneeze. Everyone does it and we can’t control it. Girls should receive free sanitary products to help and support them through growing up. They can be embarrassed to ask their parent due to living arrangements and don’t want to spend their pocket money on the. If they are provided in school it will set a young girls mind at ease to know she will be clean and healthy throughout that period of time.
INTRODUCTION Now it is time to think about your own introduction. TASK: you have 5 mins to write an introduction to your essay (or a random topic if you’ve not decided). Introduction You must make your argument clear, set out the structure of your essay, use persuasive devices to engage your reader
CONCLUSION (1) IS SEXUAL CONTENT TO EASILY ACCESSIBLE FOR CHILDREN? In conclusion, we both know that sexual content is far too accessible to young children. The content taints their thoughts and imaginations, and makes them feel differently about themselves and other people. The easy access to pornography and similar content has changed a whole generation leaving us with boys wanting to be violent, dominant and sexually active and girls that are trying to be sexually promiscuous from a young age. This is only going to get worse through generations as sexual content will become even more accessible with time and we will have no way to stop it.
CONCLUSION (2) DO YOUR GENES DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR JEANS? Research is moving at such a fast pace now. Before anyone who didn’t follow the mantra ‘eat less, move more’ was seen as lazy; or those who did follow it but had no results to prove it were perceived as lying. However now so many more contributing factors have been discovered and the blame has shifted from willpower to our DNA. At the end of the day there is no easy way of changing your eye colour from brown to blue, and likewise; there is no easy way to obtain the right weight. Whatever your genetic inheritance it’s not completely impossible to keep your weight within healthy limits, for some it can be more challenging but it is achievable. Without doubt, your genes definitely do have an impact on the size of your jeans.
CONCLUSION (3) SHOULD FIFA INTRODUCE INSTANT REPLAYS? In conclusion, instant replays should not yet be introduced because there is a lot of factors that need to be considered as in appropriate decisions might ruin football. FIFA has to think about the health of the football players as they might get injuries that could exclude them from a couple of games or even for months. They need to think about Introducing new rules and changing old rules because if this technology comes to life there should be rules on how to use it during the football match and also how powerful the referee will be after the introduction of this technology. They also need to consider how much money they are ready to place into the introduction of this technology and how much would it cost so smaller leagues could hopefully afford it as well. Also, FIFA would have to think about the increase or possibly decrease in conflict between football players and also between the fans. I think that FIFA should not introduce the instant replays as there is a lot to think about before this new technology could be introduced in to football.
CONCLUSION (4) YOUNG GIRLS SHOULD GET FREE SANITARY PRODUCTS In conclusion I think sanitary products should be provided in school for girls under the age of 16 to help boost their confident and look at Mother Nature in a different way. Even though we all hate them it will not make them worry about having enough or getting products so they don’t get their clothes stained and people smelling it around them. A nice quiet place in school with friendly faces handing out free sanitary products could make a girls day and she can get back to more worrying stuff like exams, homework and of course…. Getting her nails done!
CONCLUSION Now it is time to think about your own conclusion. TASK: you have 5 mins to write an introduction to your essay (or a random topic if you’ve not decided). Conclusion You must restate your argument making your view clear, use persuasive devices to make a final convincing case to your reader
