Enabling objectives z Describe the function of personal protective equipment consisting of the ACPG, MCU-2 P protective mask, boots & glove set to include: Component characteristics & functions z Describe the operation to include donning/doffing procedures for personal protective equipment z Explain abnormal conditions associated with personal protective equipment
Enabling objectives z Describe the operation to include donning/doffing procedures for personal protective equipment to include: Theory of operation, Pre-operational procedures
Purpose z. Personal Protective Equipment provides protection against eye, respiratory & skin hazards from chemical, biological agents & radioactive fallout particles
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. Eye-respiratory & facial skin protection z. Available in three sizes y. Small, medium, large z. Face piece y. Unimolded silicone rubber y. Size determined by measuring the distance from the bridge of the nose to the bottom of the chin
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. Lens y. Distortion free view y. Optically clear urethane y. Wide field of vision z. Front Voicemitter z. Side Voicemitter
MCU-2/P Protective Mask Lens Voicemitters
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. Head Harness y. Six metal tipped elastic straps y. Quick donning tab z. Nose Cup y. Silicone rubber y. Covers nose & mouth y. Inlet valve disks, reduces fogging
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. Internal Drinking Tube z. Drinking Tube y. M 1 Canteen Cap z. Outlet Valve Cover y. Protects the outlet valve y. Holds external drinking tube
MCU-2/P Protective Mask Outlet valve cover & drinking tube
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. Outlet Valve Assembly y. One-way valve y. Silicone rubber disk ymesh screen prevents dislodging z. Inlet Valve Assembly y. One-way valve behind canister y. Can be switched to other side
MCU-2/P Protective Mask z. C-2 canister y. Charcoal filter y. NATO threads y 3 per mask
Canister change out requirements z Exceeds 5 year shelf life z 30 days in contaminated environment (One shot of blood agent) z 60 days in non-contaminated environment z Charcoal is wet z Canister damaged z Excessive breathing resistance z Charcoal dust is on face after use z CO directs
Mask accessories z. Carrier y. Mildew resistant nylon y. Water-proof bag used to stow MCU-2/P z. Outsert y. Optically clear shell
Chemical Protective Footwear Covers z. Sizes are small & large z. Butyl Rubber, Non-slip soles z. Capabilities y. Indefinite shelf life when in bag y 24 hours in a contaminated environment y. Protects from liquid chemical agent

Chemical Protective Glove Set z. Capabilities y. Indefinite shelf life y. Provides at least 6 hrs in a contaminated environment y. Protects from liquid chemical agent
Advanced Chemical Protective Garment (ACPG) z The ACPG/JSLIST (Joint Service Lightweight Integration Suit Technology) provides protection from the effects of nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) contaminants. ACPG/JSLIST is lighter and less bulky, imposes less heat stress and reduces psychological and physiological burdens compared to the current garments. The ACPG/JSLIST ensemble uses a single base-garment design, which can be configured to meet each Service's requirements. The ensemble comes in three parts: protective suit, protective boots and protective gloves.
ACPG Jacket z Sizes - small, extra short, small short, medium regular, medium long, large long z Equipped with y. Hood with draw cord y. Velcro fasteners - wrists and elasticized drawstring at waist y. Zippered front closure with velcro fastened flap
ACPG Jacket z. Pocket on left sleeve z. Elastic loop attached to the bottom back of the jacket to keep it from riding up & exposing the wearer's back
