It was Friday afternoon, and I was ready for the weekend to begin. As I walked home from school, the wind sang her mournful song through the falling trees. The snow whispered as it fell to the ground. A car drove by. The car engine coughed and sputtered as it sped down the road. Rain began to fall and the rain kissed my cheeks as it fell.

When I arrived home, I grabbed a microwave dinner out of the freezer and popped it into the microwave. The microwave timer told me that my TV dinner was done and ready to be taken out. I cut some fresh strawberries to go with my dinner. The strawberries seemed to sing, “Eat me first. ” Suddenly the ground began to shake. An earthquake had begun.

Later that night, I turned on the television. The T. V. spoke of the news from earlier this afternoon. I saw buildings toppled over and a news reporter standing in the middle of the wreckage. A video camera had observed the whole scene. I thought to myself, “Boy oh boy I am lucky to be alive!!”
