Personality Profiling l l Personality profiling is an important part of the enriched care planning process and all perspectives are relevant. Initially the perspective should be from the person who should have the opportunity to describe and talk about their personality.
Personality Profiling Template l l The aim of this template is to generate discussion with the person, and with their carer. Each box represents one of the five factors l l l Neuroticism Extraversion Openness to experience Agreeableness Conscientiousness
Personality Profiling Template l l l Within each of the 5 boxes an x needs to be placed according to where the individual feels their personality falls. A unique profile is then generated. The space underneath is for comments and quotes from the person, to describe what you have observed or what others have said
Box 1 l Box 1: Sensitive, nervous vs. secure, confident l l l This box relates to neuroticism Someone who sees themselves as more sensitive and nervous is likely to be less emotionally in control than someone who sees themselves as confident and secure Someone who is nervous is likely to experience feelings of anxiety and sadness
Box 2 l Box 2: Outgoing, energetic vs. shy, withdrawn l l l This box is about extraversion. Extraverts are independent and active and enjoy socialising Introverts are often shy, reserved and less sociable
Box 3 l Box 3: Inventive, curious vs. cautious, conservative l l l This relates to ‘openness to experience’ dimension. A person who is open to experience likes to experience new things, has broad interests and is liberal People with low openness to experience prefer familiarity
Box 4 l Box 4: Friendly, compassionate vs. competitive, outspoken l l l This relates to the ‘agreeableness’ dimension It links to friendliness, caring and emotional support versus competitiveness, outspokenness, spitefulness and jealousy Agreeable people are often referred to as kind, sympathetic and warm
Box 5 l Box 5: Efficient, organised vs. easy-going, carefree l l l This relates to the ‘conscientiousness’ dimension The more conscientious someone is the more competent and responsible they are People who have this trait are more able to control their impulses and are less likely to e impulsive
