Perry County Virtual School � What to expect � Students in grades 6 -12

Perry County Virtual School � What to expect � Students in grades 6 -12 can enroll in online courses through Perry County Schools. � PCVS will provide flexible, technology-based education. � Families only need access to reliable internet, computer and printer. � Only cost to families is a $25 diagnostic assessment fee which is reimbursed at end of school year as long as students have completed the program. � Courses follow state guidelines and are facilitated by Tennessee licensed teachers.

Perry County Virtual School � Students will be required to participate in state assessments

Perry County Virtual School � Students will be required to participate in state assessments such as TCAP/EOC, ACT, Civics, etc. � State mandated assessments are the only times students will be required to come onto campus. � Tutoring labs will be available after school hours to provide support as needed. � Students & families, at a minimum, will be provided with progress reports every 4 ½ weeks & report cards every 9 weeks. � PCVS will follow the district calendar

Perry County Virtual School � Advantages � Cost = Free (only fee is $25 assessment which can be reimbursed). � Assured courses and assessments are aligned to Tennessee standards set forth by TDOE. � Feedback from state assessments � Eligible to try out for sports teams, band, etc. � High School Prom – with approval, purchase ticket � High School Graduation – will have a ceremony for PCVS will not have ceremony for Kindergarten or 8 th grade. � Receive Perry County Schools diploma

Perry County Virtual School � Access to health services provided by Coordinated School Health

Perry County Virtual School � Access to health services provided by Coordinated School Health program. � Ayers Foundation – will support PCVS students with FAFSA, post secondary applications, etc. and will be eligible to apply for local scholarships. However, PCVS students will not travel on trips with Ayers Foundation & will not be eligible for scholarship funds provided by Ayers Foundation. � Dual Enrollment Opportunities – qualifying students during Junior & Senior year. � PCVS students will not participate in field trips or parties.

Office will be open June 26 & 27 or July 8 th & 9 th for delivered applications.

Teachers Teacher responsibilities include: � Teachers will contact students one time per week and parents one time per month. � Teachers will have regular office hours when they are directly accessible to students. � Teachers will respond in a timely manner to students. � Teachers will provide a pacing guide for students and post regular due dates for assignments. � Teachers will respond to emails daily during business hours. � Teachers will post weekly announcements. � Teachers will foster student-to-student interaction through discussions weekly. � Assignments will be graded in a timely manner with personalized feedback. � Grade updates or progress reports will be provided every other week.

Learning Coaches responsibilities include: � Coaching students and serving as a point of contact

Learning Coaches responsibilities include: � Coaching students and serving as a point of contact for the program. � Contacting students and parents 2 x/month to discuss academic progress, time logged into courses, and their academic progress. � Developing a rapport and discussing career goals with students. � Mapping out academic goals with students. � Assisting students with time management. � Designing and guiding the capstone project throughout the program experience with students.
