Task • Perform voice communications
Conditions Given one operational radio set (warmed up and set to the net frequency) for each net member, ; a call sign information card (5 inches x 8 inches) consisting of net member duty position (S 1, S 2), net call sign (letter numberletter), suffix list (net control station [NCS] - 46, S 1 - 39, S 2 - 13), and a message to be transmitted. Situation: The net is considered to be secure and authentication is not required (FM 24 -19). Note. This task may have as many net members as there is equipment available. Each net member must have a different suffix and message to transmit.
Standards Entered a radio net, sent a message, and left a radio net using the proper call signs, call sign sequence, prowords, and phonetic alphabet and numerals with 100 percent accuracy.
Performance Measures Enter the net in Alpha Numeric Sequence Go/No-Go Send a message of 15 to 25 words using the correct Pro -words and alphabet numerals Go/No-Go Leave the net in Alpha Numeric Sequence Go/No-Go

Entering the Net • Make sure net is clear • Use proper Pro-words and Phonetics • Determine Call Sign and enter in Alpha Numeric sequence • Example – D 2 B 02: Net, this is D 2 B 02, over. D 2 E 31: This is D 2 E 31, over. D 2 H 41: This is D 2 H 41, over. D 2 W 26: This is D 2 W 26, over. – Once everyone has entered the net, the NCS acknowledges and the net is now open. – D 2 B 02: This is D 2 B 02, out.
Sending a Message on the Net • Sending a message is as follows: – When the net is clear, you can proceed with your call to the NCS by first giving the priority of the message that you have for his or her station. • W 26: B 02, this is W 26, over. B 02: W 26, this is B 02, over. W 26: B 02, priority message, prepare to copy, over. – Next, you will receive a response from the NCS that he or she is ready to receive your message. • B 02: W 26, this is B 02, send your message, over. – Proceed by sending your message using the correct pro-words and phonetic alphabet and numerals. • W 26: B 02, this is W 26, convoy has arrived with requested supplies, time-1400 Zulu, over. – After receiving your message, the NCS will provide you with a receipt. • B 02: This is B 02, roger, out.
Leaving the Net • In order to leave the net, you must receive a close down order from the NCS and then leave the net in alphanumeric sequence as follows: – B 02: Net, this is B 02, close down, over. E 31: This is E 31, over. H 41: This is H 41, over. W 26: This is W 26, over. • Once everyone has responded, the NCS acknowledges and the net is closed down. – B 02: This is B 02, close down now, out.
