Networking is the base of the tutoring system: • Co-operation with the UEF Student and Learning Services, the Faculties and the Student Union: UEF and the Student Union have a contract in which the responsibilities of tutoring are defined. • The peer tutor training and development network includes also a representative from the Finnish Student Health Services, the Campus City, a university chaplain and senior tutors (experienced peer tutors). • The role of the counselling psychologist: Builds the structures, creates networks, improves skills of the tutors by training. Key points on how to improve tutoring as an integrated part of the university advising system: • Administrative decision making supports the practical work • Regular meetings of network (“campus groups”): Ongoing assessment, planning and development. • Finding “right people” to co-operate in network. • Co-operation between peer tutors and teacher tutors: Duties are clear, mutual understanding. • Student-to- student idea: Student Union has a big role in partnership and maintaining the “senior tutor” network.
