What are Life Skills? �Knowledge, attitudes, and skills adolescents need in order to make healthy decisions that lead to a successful transition into adulthood. i. e. communication, decision-making, managing emotions, assertiveness, leadership skills, self-esteem, resisting peer pressure, and relationship skills. Life skills also address the important related issues of gender, gender-based violence, and human rights. �Development of the whole individual �Interactive methods i. e. role plays, games, puzzles, group discussions, and a variety of other innovative teaching
How should this manual be used? � By Peace Corps Volunteers and their Counterparts � With the Life Skills and Leadership Manual (Publication No. M 0098) The youth development focus of the Life Skills and Leadership Manual complements the health focus of this manual and can be used to expand on the youth development � Target audience: Adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19 years of age. Some content not appropriate for all ages- specified in the manual � Setting: Classrooms, youth groups or camps; 25 participants or fewer � Session Sequence: Sessions build on one another and, therefore, where possible, should be conducted in the order presented.
