What is PBIS? ● “Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports” ○ Proactive behavior & academic intervention system ○ Establishes positive behavioral supports & a positive social culture that is intended to help students achieve ■ Social success ■ Emotional success ■ Academic success
The Basic Structure of PBIS ● Three Tiers: 1, 2, 3 ○ ○ ○ Tier 1 ■ Universal: School-wide support systems for 80 -90% of staff, students, & environments ← This is us this year Tier 2 ■ Selected: Classroom-based support systems for more selected interventions targeting at-risk students, 15 -20% Tier 3 ■ Targeted: Individualized support systems for roughly 5% of high-risk students
Why PBIS at Poston Butte? Schools that have been successful in implementing school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports describe the following benefits: ● ● Increases in attendance. Poston Butte PBIS Mission Statement “By implementing PBIS schoolwide we can reduce referrals, time out of the classroom, and increase student participation. This will lead to an increase in positive attitudes which encourages being successful both in and out of the classroom. ”
FHS Data-Already implementing on year 3 -30% decrease in the overall number of office referrals that were submitted when compared to the previous year. -We have also seen a decrease in the number of D’s and F’s in the last year.

The Bronco Four- Four expectations that you must follow in each and every one of your classrooms. 1. Hats, Hoods, and anything else on your head need to be taken off when you enter the classroom. 2. Prepare yourself for class and put your backpacks on the floor. 3. Put all unapproved electronic devices away and keep them put away. 4. There will be NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED in the classroom unless it is a drink in a sealed container. No Polar Pops, Starbucks, Mcdonalds, etc.
