PBIS and Whipple Ranch Why do PBIS Addresses
PBIS and Whipple Ranch
Why do PBIS? Addresses behavior of ALL students across ALL settings of the school. Addresses and focuses on what TO do rather than what NOT to do. No running No throwing No yelling Don’t worry, there’s plenty of stuff she left out
PBIS Creates: ➢ Common Language and Team Approach ➢ Increased Instruction Time ➢ Schoolwide Expectations
Common Language ● An overall tone of safety and caring. This is set by adults positive language, what we say and how we say it. ● Positive work environment, boosting morale and facilitating a team approach. ● Helps students believe all adults at the school care about them. ● Helps keep students in their executive state of the brain, promoting learning. ● A school wide social culture improves social behavior of students.
Increased Instruction Time ● Strategies for preventing and pre-empting behavior. ● Decrease in office referrals and suspensions. When a student is sent to the office there is an average of 30 minutes of staff involvement and loss of instruction time. Visual representation of office visits in the last two weeks. Our hope is that PBIS can help us decrease this.
