Paul Van Ginkel nasceu em St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canadá, em 1960. Em 1973 Paul mudou-se com sua família para Calgary e foi educado no “Alberta College of Art”. Mais tarde fez um “Master of Fine Arts” na “Syracuse University”, em Nova York. Van Ginkel trabalhou por seis anos como ilustrador editorial para o “Calgary Herald”. A partir de 1990, dedicou-se à pintura e especializou-se em temas ocidentais. Parte do seu aprimoramento como artista veio de viagens de estudo e pesquisaspelos principais centros de Arte, incluindo Nova York, Itália, Austrália, México e Santa Fé. Biography: Paul Van Ginkel was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada in 1960. In 1973 he moved with his family to Calgary and was educated at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary. Later he earned a “Master of Fine Arts” degree from “Syracuse University, in New York. Van Ginkel worked for six years as an editorial illustrator for the “Calgary Herald”. Part of his growth as an artist has come from travels of study and researches to major Art centers. including New York, Italy, Australia, Mexico and Santa Fe. He also went do Seville and Madrid, Spain, to research Flamenco culture in preparation for a new series of paintings. Van Ginkel moved to Vancouver in 1996 in search of a new stimulus, returning to Calgary in 2001. Van Ginkel received many awards and distinctionsfor his work. He was one of the artists selected by the “Fresco Fine Art Publishers”, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the publication of the book “Western Traditions Contemporary Artists of the American West”. He is a member of “Oil Painters of America” and was commissioned to paint the poster “Calgary Stampede Exhibition” 2006.
