Paul Apostle of Jesus Speaking About Jesus Paul
Paul Apostle of Jesus Speaking About Jesus
Paul Apostle of Jesus Speaking About Jesus In today’s lesson we learn about a huge change for Paul! He used to be the person to hurt Christians and now that he was a Christian, people wanted to hurt him! We can only imagine how scared he must have been. Our opening song is the same as last week followed by a new one which reminds us that God is someone who looks after us. (it has cute wee kids but has a great message)
Paul Apostle of Jesus Acts 9: 19 – 30 and 11: 19 -30 As always before starting the lesson say a prayer asking for God to help you understand what you are reading and watching so that it will help you to serve him better. Read the Bible passages and watch the video clip.
A Changed man Acts 9: 19 – 22 To the astonishment of those in Damascus, Paul preached that Jesus was the Son of God. When Jesus comes into our lives we are changed and we want others to know about him. Has Jesus changed you? If not , are you willing to listen to what others say about him?
A Dangerous Plot Acts 9: 23 25 There was a plot to kill Paul. He escaped over the wall in a basket. As we know, not everyone wants to listen when people speak about Jesus. Are you brave enough to talk to your friends about Jesus? They won’t all want to listen but some of them might surprise you and want to hear more.
A Good Friend Acts 9: 26 -30 Disciples in Jerusalem didn’t trust Paul but Barnabas became his friend. God can provide friends and so much more when his obedient servants need help. As Christians we are commanded to tell people about Jesus; sometimes it is easier to do this with other people as you can support each other and pray for each other. This week, unexpectedly, someone contacted me asking me to talk to them about Jesus. I was able to phone some friends and our Pastors and ask that they pray for me and give me some advice.
A Wonderful Message Acts 11: 19 -30 Paul’s friend Barnabas had been sent to a city called Antioch by the church leaders in Jerusalem. Some people there had already believed in Jesus and knew they would need help to understand more about God and Jesus. Barnabas discovered that lots of people needed help so he went to Tarsus to find Paul. Together they taught the followers of Jesus in Antioch for a whole year.
Speaking About Jesus Here at Central Baptist we try to help people tell others about Jesus. Some of these people do this in other countries, some here in our country and some in Dundee. We pray for people and also give them some money. Talk with someone at home about the pictures below.
Speaking About Jesus Paul had an amazing change in his life. He gave his life to Jesus, and wanted everyone to hear Jesus’ amazing story. Not everyone wanted to hear how great Jesus is. Many times these people decided they would hurt Paul so he could not keep telling others about Jesus. Paul needed to fully depend on God put friends into his life so he could continue to share Jesus’ story. Ask someone at home if they will answer some questions for you. Who has God brought into your life to help you through a tough time? Who has God brought into your life so you could help them?
Speaking About Jesus It can be a bit scary talking to people about Jesus. This week, before I chatted to my friend about Jesus I prayed and also listened to an old Sunday School song I used to sing. (I sang it 3 times! ) It is based on a Bible verse: Joshua chapter 1 v 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. ” I hope you enjoy this song and can use it as a prayer too.
Speaking About Jesus Our closing song is a favourite for many – Salvation Song. We tell people about Jesus because we want them to follow him and be saved. I hope you will follow Jesus too and pray that God will give you opportunities and the courage to talk about Him. God Bless, Colin
