Objectives for the session l l l By the end of today's session you will be able to : Produce a simple square Seminole patchwork sample Produce a crazy patchwork sample using bondaweb to attach fabrics
Seminole Patchwork l Seminole patchwork requires the maker to take/cut many pieces of clothe and then sew them together. The process of sewing, cutting, sewing and so on results in the making of complex geometric designs. l Named after a native american tribe called the Seminoles who were forced to use small scraps of fabric to make larger pieces
How to do it…. . l l l Cut 5 strips of fabric approx 5 cm wide and 20 cm long Seam them together Cut the piece into strips, alternate and rearrange Seam the strips back together to make patchwork
Crazy Patchwork l Originated in America in the latter of the nineteenth century l Unlike other patchwork it was not the product of necessity l Patches are traditionally made from silk and velvet and are appliquéd onto a base fabric and embellished with fancy stitches, lace etc
How to do it…. l l Transfer Bondaweb onto fabric (keep paper) Cut lots of pieces of fabric Attach the central piece first and work outwards When complete stitch on lace, add hand machine embroidery
