Past simple tense • Past simple tense is used for actions completed in the past. • With most verbs, past tense is formed by adding -ed to the base form of a verb. These verbs are called regular verbs. BASE FORM PAST TENSE open play listen talk opened played listened talked + -ed • But there also a lot of irregular past tense forms and such verbs are known as irregular verbs, e. g.
