Passive Voice Passive voice is when the action is done to the subject. • • Ex: The bed was made. What is the subject of the sentence? What is the action of the sentence?

Passive Voice • The bed was made. That bill was funded by Congress. • • Races were run. • Places were visited. • Wishes are made.

Active Voice Active voice is when the action is done by the subject. • • Ex: I made the bed. What is the subject of the sentence? What is the action of the sentence?

Active Voice • I made the bed. Congress funded that bill. • • They run races. • We visited places. • She made a wish.

Active or Passive? • She joined the army. • The ribbons were cut. • I opened the store at 8 AM. • The piano was played wonderfully. • They love movies. • Some great books have been written.
