Purpose: Phil 1: 20 -26 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain………. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me. Christian Philosophy To live for Christ. Bring glory to His name. Seek to have fellowship with Him. Decision to live or die. His role in Philippi. Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 7

Acute Focus: Phil 3: 10 -14 My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained this – that is, I have not already been perfected – but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me. Instead I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead, with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Acute Focus It was his focus, his aim to know Jesus. The Greek word for “to know” is ginosko- to indicate an intimate knowledge of someone else. The word suggests the difference between knowing about someone and truly knowing them personally. Our goal—to intimately and experientially know Jesus. Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 9

Selfless: Col 1: 26 -29 This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That’s what I’m working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me. Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 10

Paul’s claims Paul proclaimed Christ Paul warned everyone. Taught everyone with all wisdom. Desired to present everyone mature in Christ. He toiled with this motivation. Struggled with all the energy that the Lord gave him. The Lord worked powerfully through Paul. Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 11

Surrender: Acts 9: 1 -6 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, why do you persecute me? “Who are you, Lord? ” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting, ” he replied. 6“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do. ” Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 12

Transformation Saul underwent transformation. Persecutor to Passionate follower. Jesus sacrificial love. His gratitude for salvation. Slavery to freedom! Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 13

Intimate: Phil 3: 4 -11 ………. 7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Intimate Paul could boast of: His religious heritage, illustrious ancestry, religious party, devoted zeal. Paul gives up all these things for the sake of Christ. What does it mean to us? What would you consider important to you? Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 15

Obedient: 1 Cor 9: 19 -23 For though I was free from all men, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. And I do all things for the gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof. Glory Ministries Trust Confidential 2013 16

No Quitter : 1 Cor 5: 9 -10 I am the least of the messengers, and indeed I do not deserve that title at all, because I persecuted the Church of God. But what I am now I am by the grace of God. The grace he gave me has not proved a barren gift. I have worked harder than any of the others – and yet it was not I but this same grace of God within me.
