The Use of Etre ¢ Etre is used as a helping verb in the past for specific verbs l ¢ These verbs CAN NOT use avoir as a helping verb… they must use être (conjugated in the present) Subject + helping verb (être) + past participle* l The main formation stays the same only you are now using être instead of avoir as the helping verb
