Recent Successes �Missing/Abducted Child Team recognized and certified as a Child Abduction Response Team �Grant funding of over $200, 000 obtained to investigate cold cases using DNA analysis over 2 years �Homeland Security grant funding obtained to conduct operations with Border Patrol and increase marine capabilities �Total index crime continued to decline, dropping 7. 6% in 2014
Recent Successes �Community survey showed a majority of our citizens noted improvement in Sheriff’s Office services �Body cameras deployed to all patrol members Rialto, CA saw a 60% reduction in Use of Force incidents, Mesa, AZ saw a 75% reduction in use of force complaints �Significant reorganizations in agency structure and deployment to increase efficiencies
Challenges �Mental Health and substance abuse continue to be problems in Pasco �The county is experiencing continued residential growth A number of communities in various planning and development stages
Staffing � 44 certified members of the Law Enforcement Bureau resigned from the agency in 2014 �Compared to 48 who resigned in 2012 and 2013 COMBINED �Average member resigning in 2014 had just over 5 years of service �On a recent survey, over 74% of current law enforcement deputies identified compensation as the single most important factor to improve to attract and retain a quality workforce
Staffing �During this time period, an increasing number of members have conveyed that finances are a driving factor in their decision �This trend has continued into 2015, where in the first 3 months, a majority of the deputies that resigned cited pay as the primary factor in their decision
