Adjectives • Modify or describe nouns and pronouns
Adjectives Usually explain: • What Kind • Which one • How many

Predicate Adjectives • The adjectives are separated from the noun it describes by a verb
Example Predicate Adjectives • The protests have become violent. • The gift was extraordinary.
Nouns as adjectives • Nouns can also be used as adjectives • • Examples: Film director Cattle business Stone cutter
Adverbs • Modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs as well as phrases and clauses.
Adverbs Answer the questions: How? When? Where? How often? How much?
Easy identifier • Most end in “Ly” • However, not all end this way.
