The function of the parts of the seed Testa /seed coat- gives protection to the cotyledon and the embryo in the early stages. Cotyledon/ seed leaf- stores food material for the young plant. Embryo-consist of the plumule and the radicle and give rise to the new plant. Plumule- grows into the shoot. Radicle –grows into the root. Micropyle -takes in water for germination. Hilum -scar which shows point of attachment to seed.
