Copyright Page: located at the front of the book – directly behind the title page. It tells when the book was published, lists publication, legal rights, copyright, printing, listing and ISBN information. An example of a copyright page is where a reader would find out who owns the copyright for a specific book. Author’s note: often found at the end of the book in novels, would probably be the closest to an essay in fiction, and are usually used by the author to explain why they wrote a book or to talk about process. (There authors whose notes are even better than their novels, by the way. ) Acknowledgement Page: is the place where the author has the opportunity to thank those people and give them credit.
Parts of a Book Foreword: when written by the author, the foreword may cover the story of how the book came into being or how the idea for the book was developed, and it may include thanks and acknowledgments to people who were helpful to the author during the time of writing. Unlike a preface, a foreword is always signed. Afterword: a literary device that is often found at the end of a piece of literature. It generally covers the story of how the book came into being, or of how the idea for the book was developed. Preface: is an introduction to a book or other literary work written by the work's author. An introductory essay written
Parts of a Book Contents Page: lists the titles of the chapters or units in the book and the pages in which they begin. Also known as the table of contents, it is the part of a book that is usually used only in nonfiction works that have parts and chapters. A contents page is less common in fiction works but may be used if your work includes unique chapter titles. Glossary: contains definitions of difficult or unfamiliar words that appear in the book. Bibliography: is a list of books about a certain subject. It can also be a list of books the author used or referred to in the text. It is usually found at the end of a book, article or research paper Index: is a list of all the topics in a book. It is in alphabetical order and lists the page or pages on which each topic appears
