Governors’ Curriculum & Student Committee meetings • How it works: • The meetings will start at 5. 30 pm. • Dates: 21 st November 2011; 27 th February 2012 & 30 th April 2012 • The first 1 hr 20 min will have a maximum of 4 presentations from staff and students • Parents will then have an opportunity to present their views to the governors
PARENTS’ FORUM • This meeting will follow on directly from the Governors’ meeting (6. 50 pm) and will provide parents/carers with an opportunity to raise any matter regarding the school or ask questions about the work of the school.
Parents’ Evenings • These evenings are designed to allow parents/carers to gather information regarding their child’s progress. • Senior staff are available to answer other queries or concerns.
1: 1 MEETINGS • Parents/carers are free to request a meeting with any school leader to discuss matters of concern.
Listening to the student voice • We have appointed a dedicated student voice leader…Mrs. Cathryn Smith (English) • Ambassadors (Y 11 & Y 10) and diplomats (Y 9 & Y 8) will represent the voice of the student body.
STUDENT VOICE • We want their voice to impact on educational matters i. e. their learning experience, as well as welfare concerns. • We might not always be able to meet their demands but we will always listen.
Safeguarding (including internet safety) • The school has taken as many measures as possible to keep our students safe. • One of the biggest dangers relate to the internet.

STUDENT WELL-BEING • We are undertaking research into what makes students happier in life. • National data suggests that as students get older they get less happy. • The greatest influence on happiness is home life. • Nevertheless, we are looking at school factors that assist in improving the well-being of students. • Some of the critical school factors would include: – – Friendship groups ‘Private’ space Respect Personal image • We gather information by questionnaires and group/individual interviews
