CONSEQUENCES When is it to far? • Dissatisfaction that leads to eating disorders Anorexia , Bulimia and binge eating Some athletes have the mentallity that they have to be thin to be good Ex: Worries gymnast, wrestlers, ballet, they have to worry of body and weigh limit • Excessive exercise Exhaustion Vulnerable to injuries Hurts the heart

• Injuries Ex: concussion, Knee injuries, elbow, muscle tears, stains Ignoring the pain makes injury worse • Competitive edge Temper • Disappointment of parents Meet the standards • They can get bored

BENEFITS TO A CHILD We are aware that physical activity come with many benefits such as • Healthy weight • Bone health • Social development Team work Sportsmanship • Self-esteem • Challenge Work hard pays off

A GOOD PARENT • Winning isn’t what matters (Petersen, T. 2010 pg. 25) • Having a good time • Aware of the benefits • Support their child • Financially, emotionally

BAD PARENTS Live their dreams through their children § “Researchers found that parents who reflected more on their own lost dreams were most likely to want their children to fulfill these goals” ("Some parents live, " 2013) § Should be aware their children are their own person Competitive § Yelling parents § Frustrated parents
