Understanding the Needs of a Gifted Child Some Common Social Emotional Issues Affecting Gifted Children Are: • Perfectionism • Boredom • Depression Problems can arise when the emotional needs of a gifted child go unattended. Parents, teachers, and counselors should work together to help meet the needs of a gifted child.
Responsive Parenting Strategies that parents can use to keep Gifted Children challenged can include: • Exposing the child to a variety of activities, hobbies, and sports. • Providing a creative and nurturing home. • Helping their child to interact with peers with similar interests. • Educating themselves on the topic of gifted children.
