COLLEGE ADMISSIONS Ø LEAST COMPETITIVE: 2 -year colleges Community colleges require a high school diploma and placement testing (that assesses English and math skills). Ø MORE COMPETITIVE: 4 -year colleges Admissions officials will definitely consider: Grade point average Class rank SAT or ACT scores Rigor of academic program

BOSTON COLLEGE Most Competitive: 26% of the applicants were accepted The Admissions Office recommends that students pursue a strong college preparatory course load that includes: ØEnglish: 4 credits ØSocial Science: 4 credits ØMath: 4 credits ØLab Science: 4 credits ØForeign Language: 4 credits The admissions committee also looks at the rigor of the high school program. Students challenging themselves with honors, AP, and college-level courses tend to be more competitive.

COURSE SELECTION Ø There are 8 class periods + 1 (shorter) lunch period. Ø All students must take at least 5 credits + PE. Ø Students may carry up to 7 credits + PE, provided there are no scheduling conflicts. Ø Seniors in good standing may request late arrival/early dismissal, but there is no guarantee that these can be scheduled. Ø If students are recommended for remedial or lab help, this will take priority over an elective. Ø All Regents and AP science classes require an additional alternate day LAB period. Ø All prerequisites, as outlined in the course descriptions, must be met.

You can register now. �We offer the following exams at O’Neill this spring: May 1 st SAT (registration deadline: March 25 th) June 12 th ACT (registration deadline: May 7 th)
NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER If a student intends to participate in Division I or II athletics as a college freshman, the student must register and be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. To be eligible students must: (1) Complete a set number of CORE courses; (2) Earn a minimum required grade point average in those core courses; and (3) Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that matches the core-course grade point average and test score sliding scale
