CLASS PLACEMENTS The school creates its class structure based upon the professional judgements of staff with the aim of creating the best learning environment for each student. We strive to make the right choices taking into account all the information we have to hand. Our teachers have been working with your child on a daily basis all year gathering information on preferred learning styles, interests, social groups, emotional needs, as well as their academic ability. Previous teachers and specialist teachers are also consulted for their input.
v v Factors that teachers take into consideration when allocating students to classes include: v The ratio of boys to girls. v The best educational and emotional needs of each student. v Creating classes that are balanced academically, socially and behaviorally. v Special circumstances such as twins or individual family matters. v Constraints of resources or facilities. Should there be a need to form a composite class, as well as the above, the following will be taken into consideration. v Work habits v Social maturity v Academic performance v Previous class placements
v The curriculum entitlement for each child are the same as other children in that year level. v Wherever practicable students placed in a composite class will be provided with opportunities to participate in activities with their year level. Where practicable students who have been with a small cohort of their peers one year will be placed with the larger cohort the following year. COMPOSITE CLASSES
