Palm Sunday Jesus - healed the sick - Preached good news to the poor - Delivered those afflicted by the demonic - Forgave those who acknowledged their sin - Taught the crowds… - And … Jesus showed us what His Father is like

Palm Sunday a 14: 6 John Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way? ” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. ” 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. ” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.

Palm Sunday He said: “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. ‘Put this money to work, ’ he said, ‘until I come back. ’ 14“But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king. ’ 15“He was made king, however, and returned home. 12

Palm Sunday Luke 19: 28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30“Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it? ’ say, ‘The Lord needs it. ’” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt? ” They replied, “The Lord needs it. ”

Palm Sunday Matt 21: 4 This took place to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey. ’” They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: Luke 19 35

Palm Sunday John 12: 17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!” Luke 19: 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you, ” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out. ” Matt 21: 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this? ”The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. ”

Palm Sunday Luke 19: 41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you. ”

Jerusalem It is know as the most contested city in the world… (google it!) Today Jerusalem is divided into 3 divisions… all 3 stemming from Abraham… Islam, Judaism and Christianity… Both Palestinians and Israelis claim Jerusalem as their capital During it’s history, Jerusalem has been • destroyed at least twice, • besieged 23 times, • attacked 52 times, and • captured and recaptured 44 times. The Bible tells us that Jerusalem will again be central when Jesus returns…

Palm Sunday 1/ PROPHET • brought words from God… • called people to turn from evil and unfaithfulness… and turn to God… 2/ Priest • The duty of the Priest was to intercede on behalf of the people, to represent them before God and be God’s representative to the people 3/ King • The nations leader… charged with caring for and protecting the nation and administering justice

Messiah Prophet Deut 18: 15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. John (1: ) said “I am not the Messiah. ” 21 They asked him, “Then who are you?
