National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) - History Started in 1990 through UN’s financial and technical assistance. Mandated to be the national repository of education data, to act as the standard setting agency, establish linkages and develop capacity of Provinces/Regions. Since 1992, NEMIS is functioning in Academy of Educational Planning and Management, Ministry of Education from Government funding. At the same time, Provincial/Regional EMISs established Published Pakistan Education Statistics on yearly basis since 1992 -93

Methodology Under the EFA initiative, 6 Goals with more than 65 indicators were defined. Some Indicators from these have been selected after consultation with stakeholders for Pakistan Education Statistics 2013 -14 NEMIS uses the same methodology as defined by UIS in calculating education indicators in the following international documents: Global Education Digest (UIS) EFA Global Monitoring Report (UNESCO) Human Development Report (UNDP)
