Pairs We’re practising alliteration this week. Let’s see if we can match up some initial sounds!

For this activity, you will need… An even number of objects that begin with two different letters, e. g. ‘t’ and ‘n’. You could use: a toy, a towel, a t-shirt, the number nine, a necklace, a notebook! See what you can find!

If they don’t, put them back in the bag. • Keep going until your bag is empty and you have a winner! • If you decide to try two different letters, try and choose one long sound that you can extend, e. g. ‘sssss’ or ‘mmmmmm’ and one short sound, e. g. ‘d’ or ‘p’. This difference will help your child hear the initial sounds more easily.
