IB Mission Statement The IBO aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. © International Baccalaureate Organization 2007

Three Fundamental Concepts Intercultural Awareness Holistic Learning Communication • Communities should encourage and promote internationalmindedness by engaging with and exploring other cultures • Builds understanding and respect • Encourages students to see issues from multiple perspectives. • All knowledge is interrelated • Links between subject areas (i. e. , Areas of Interaction) • Curriculum should cater to the development of the whole person (i. e. , IB Learner Profile) • Stresses good command of verbal and non-verbal communication • A good communicator in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication © International Baccalaureate Organization 2007
