Corporate Social Responsibility “Ivy Wang Hall” Teaching Building Dr. Lin retired from his 32 years of teaching career in Jan. 2009. He and the Chairwoman of the Group, Ms. Ivy Wang, made a donation of a new teaching building under the name " Ivy Wang Hall " to National Taiwan Ocean University. The expenditure for this building is estimated to be about US 2. 3 million and the group continues to execute his philanthropic ethos to feedback to the society with further charitable endeavor. Corporate Social Responsibility Pacific Star Group Educational Foundation “A kid from an impoverished family stole some watercolor and brushers from a stationery store. When sent to the police station, this little girl refused to say anything – she just did not want her dad to know and make him worried. ” This news made the Group Founder, Dr. Kuang Lin, decide to initiate the “Annually Supporting 1000 Children in Need” project, which is executed by Pacific Star Group Educational Foundation. • • • 12 To take care of those school children in need and to make them feel the warmth from the society. To support each kid NTD 500 per month, 8 months (for 2 semesters) in total annually. Source of funding: from the society, staff members in the Pacific Star Group and Dr. Lin. In 2012, there were 363 elementary schools’ applications got approved. The subsidy amount was NTD 3, 156, 000, (approx. USD 107, 000) and 789 children from 11 counties in total. In 2013, the subsidy amount increased 5%, reaching to NTD 3, 308, 000 (approx. USD 112, 000), and 827 children from 13 counties were benefited from this project.
