What can we do at home? n n Approach questions in a scientific manner. Think Science! E. g. “As I’m combing my hair, there is friction acting between the comb and my hair!” Inspire your child to relate daily phenomenon to Science. E. g. writing on a piece of paper demonstrates that the effects of forces are in action. Tips on answering MCQ n n SCORER S – Schedule time for MCQ questions. Spend a maximum time of 45 mins for booklet A. C – Clue words like all, every, always, most, never, none, but, not, except, only etc. O – Omit difficult questions. Answer the questions that are easiest to handle first. Circle the question and return to it later.
Tips on answering MCQ n R – Read carefully. ¡ Scan the whole paper to be mentally prepared for the type of questions to expect later on. ¡ Read each question carefully and highlight key words that are important in answering the question. ¡ After highlighting the key words, relate the key words by annotating next to the question the: 1) topic/s, 2) sub-topic, 3) concept/s. ¡ E. g. Water, factors affecting evaporation, humidity
Tips on answering MCQ n n E – Eliminate unlikely alternatives/Evaluate best answer by marking off the ones you know are wrong. Compare two options that could be the correct answer and choose the option that gives the most complete information. R – Review answers by referring to highlighted keywords and check if choice made is correct. Answer all questions and make an intelligent guess if answer is unknown.
