TIA Statutory Requirements, TEC 48. 112 at least 90% is used for compensation of teachers employed at the campus where the designated teacher works; and up to 10% can be used for costs associated with supporting a local designation system or to support teacher in obtaining designations districts must expend the funding to meet statute by August 31 st of each year i. e. allotment dollars generated by 2020 -2021 designations must be expended by August 31, 2021 districts receive funding for the TIA through FSP Continued allotments are based on previous year projections with an annual settle-up

Sample Compensation Plan Language Sample 1: For any funds received by __________ ISD for a designated teacher under the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), ( 90 ) percent will be paid to the designated teacher. The remaining ( 10 ) percent will be used for ( training and support of the system, expansion of the system, administrative expenses, professional development ). Should the district receive funding for a designated teacher who has resigned or retired, the district will forward payment to the resigned or retired teacher as soon as practicable. Should be TRS creditable compensation for the designated teacher. District will need to include all TIA funds in the teacher’s final payment if the teacher retires or resigns to be TRS creditable compensation.
Sample Compensation Plan Language Sample 2: For any funds received by __________ ISD for a designated teacher under the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), ( 70 ) percent will be paid to the designated teacher. The other ( 20 ) will be paid equally to the other teachers on the designated teacher’s campus. The remaining ( 10 ) percent will be used for ( training and support of the system, expansion of the system, administrative expenses, professional development ). Should the district receive funding for a designated teacher who has resigned or retired, the district will forward payment to the resigned or retired teacher as soon as practicable. Submitted Questions Q: What happens to a district’s fees if they are not approved? A: Designation fees are reimbursable upon approval. Fees will be held for districts who are not approved and can be used when a district decides to re-apply.
