Ion Source – 1/2 (Tilen’s visit to Pantechnik) Introduction to IS HW, operation and Lab. VIEW panels (part of standard solution) n Defined the interfaces for devices of the IS o Some devices for MA IS have not been defined yet o Pantechnik will provide a Lab. VIEW library of low-level VIs for device access. n Discussed operational procedures of IS o Start-up, shut-down o Regulation procedure n § § Cosylab 2011 Until now IS was regulated manually by an operator Apparently a complex procedure 3

Ion Source – 2/2 (visit to HIT and further work) n Visit to HIT

Ion Source – 2/2 (visit to HIT and further work) n Visit to HIT with Liviu Further iterations on requirements from MA o How to fit the solution that Pantechnik provides to MA system o There is still some missing information n Next steps o EA model o Finishing the design o Implementation of FECOS classes o Integration visit to Pantechnik (end of June) n According to Pantechnik, IS will produce the first beam in July n Cosylab 2011 4

LLRF n Klemen joined the MA team, first round of requirements o tomorrow whole

LLRF n Klemen joined the MA team, first round of requirements o tomorrow whole day on LLRF system; clarify picture n TINE <-> Lab. VIEW (Miha) (3 wk+) o 1) started building TINE DLL, to be called from Lab. VIEW § o 2) started porting this single DLL to PXI Pharlap § § o No code changed, only preprocessor defines (hint by Philip Duval, DESY). Result is a single DLL, to be used from Lab. VIEW on Win. Copying didn’t work, so we turned to NI for help and we got some suggestions. Only "debug through logging" available. Still, we had problems, which we fixed with tech support. 3) With debugging we made progress, modified the C and Lab. View code to get a "mostly working DLL". § § Cosylab 2011 The DLL works on PXI Pharlap, with occasional crashes. Unfortunately crashes are now more random and we are investigating cause. 5

C# development chunks of C# development tasks n presently, one month of work is

C# development chunks of C# development tasks n presently, one month of work is defined (mostly on Petri. Net), the rest will probably change (time transferred to newly agreed tasks) n n work goes smoothly n troubles: o different VMware images cause testing delays (dependencies…) o Sunil’s absence (illness) Cosylab 2011 6

STM/SIM/MAPS n CWO-2 work reviewed o little minor things to be fixed n action

STM/SIM/MAPS n CWO-2 work reviewed o little minor things to be fixed n action plan o complete LV STM implementation o user manual and API to be documented o further actions to be defined and implemented o performance/stability tests o due date: until next MACS week n not much progress was done / low priority / Matej needs feedback o however, it is not a blocker for FECOS development Cosylab 2011 7

PM team of 13 people n rely on “NI-core” support, a lot of cases

PM team of 13 people n rely on “NI-core” support, a lot of cases n two newcomers; Klemen and Tilen o up to speed with MA rules of work o CERN account n deliverables: o improved CWO report o ongoing acceptance n document modifications o clearly communicated to the team n requirement (= identified specific behavior, no matter how “low”) o proposed o impact evaluated o accepted o release deadline agreed n Cosylab 2011 8
