Baguio City was developed by the Americans in the early 1900’s, who found it to be an ideal site for a future city and summer retreat, especially for officers and employees of the Insular Government. It was designed for a population of 30, 000 people, but today Baguio is home to 300, 000, including over 20, 000 South Koreans. Baguio City occupies about 57 square kilometers of hilly land about 1, 524 meters high in the southwestern portion of the Cordillera Central mountain range in Northern Luzon in the Philippines.

Baguio City posted a total population of 318, 676 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 66, 290 persons compared to its total population of 252, 386 persons counted in the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (CPH).
