How did we start? • We have a partnership with The Joshua Group as a sustaining corporate sponsor • We wanted to re-invent our annual Port Days event • We have a new CEO who has big ideas about re-connecting the community and the Port
Planning Began in February • We reached out to port and community partners with the concept and they loved it • By the time June rolled around we had 36 participants in the day and people were calling or writing because they wanted to join in • Partnering with our military base, CFB Gagetown, was a big draw we had early in planning
Advertising • We started to advertise in May through our daily paper, and the community weeklies in the suburbs surrounding our City. • We used radio for the last week • We sent circulars and poster to schools • We also used PSAs and media outreach every chance we had • We used Facebook and Twitter
3000 people came to see our 36 participating partners
Our CE 0 helped cook 3000 hot dogs
Opportunity for our Canadian Forces to conduct their own outreach
We included hands-on aspects of the marine life of the Bay to interest families
And we provided opportunity to educate about the Port
Best of all we raised $10, 000 for the charity And very positive buzz in the community about the Port!
