PSALM 145 NLT 1 I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. 2 I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. 3 Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.

PSALM 145 NLT 4 Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. 5 I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. 6 Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. 7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.

PSALM 145 NLT 8 The LORD is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. 9 The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. 10 All of your works will thank you, LORD, and your faithful followers will praise you. 11 They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. 12 They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. 13 For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The LORD always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.

PSALM 145 NLT 14 The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. 15 The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it. 16 When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. 18 The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them. 20 The LORD protects all those who love him, but he destroys the wicked.

PSALM 145 NLT 21 I will praise the LORD, and may everyone on earth bless his holy name forever and ever.

1 John 1: 1 -2 NLT 1 We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. 2 This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.

JOHN 1: 1 -14 NLT In the beginning the Word [Logos] already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Why did John write the letter? 1: 3 -4 We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy. 2: 1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. 5: 13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.

1 John 1: 3 NEB “What we have seen and heard we declared to you, so that you and we together may share in a common life (koinonia), that life which we share with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. ”

What prompted the letter? 1 John 2: 18: “You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. 19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us. ”

What were the false teachers teaching? Three heresies (false teachings) 1. 2. 3. “If we claim we have fellowship with Him while walking in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth” (1: 5) “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves” (1: 8) “If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar and his truth is not in us. ” (1: 10).

How can we know we have eternal life?

Three tests How can we know we have eternal life? 1. The test of obedience. “And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. ” (2: 3 NLT) 2. The test of love. “If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. ” (3: 14 NLT) 3. The test of correct belief about Christ. “Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? … No one who denies the Son has the Father. ” (2: 22 -23 NLT) “I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. ” (2 John 7 NIV)

Have confidence that we have eternal life. 1: 3 -4 koinonia (shared life) with one another and with God.
