English presentation checklist I have ruled off my last piece of work with a straight ruler line. I have written the long date on the top line at the right hand side of my page. I have missed a line and then written my learning title in the centre of the page. I have underlined my date and learning title with a straight ruler line. I have crossed out my mistakes with a pencil and ruler.
Writing a poem • I can follow and edit my plan to write a poem • I can use a checklist to write a poem • I can include poetic devices accurately (rhyming couplets, alliteration and adjectives). DNA Look at your flow map from yesterday. Add adjectives to increase the description within your poem.
Retrieve your learning about alliteration by completing one of the activities below.
Start to write verse 1 of your poem! (look at the example on the next page) Things to consider: • Rhyming couplets - where should the rhyming words be place? • Alliteration to add rhythm • Adjectives for detail • Layout – your poem doesn’t have to be next to a margin! • How many lines will each of your verse have? (Aim for at least 4!)

Check your first verse! Have you: • Got rhyming couplets? • Included alliteration? • Added adjectives? CHALLENGE: Does poetry follow the same punctuation rules as other genres of writing? Look at the punctuation you have included. Make sure you have used capital letters for the beginning of each line and a comma or full stop at the end.
