Ottoman Empire - While al-Andalus was in decline, a new Muslim power was arising in the east. This power was a dynasty of Turkish Muslims called the Ottomans. - Warriors who first captured Byzantine cities and then expanded into southeastern Europe. They later captured Syria, Palestine, and Egypt from other Muslim rulers. - In 1453 they ended the Byzantine Empire when they captured Constantinople. They renamed it Istanbul. - Empire lasted until the early 1900 s
