KSBN’s 2015 Book The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore Two kids named Wes Moore were born blocks apart within a year of each other. Both grew up fatherless in similar Baltimore neighborhoods and had difficult childhoods. Both hung out on street corners with their crews. Both ran into trouble with the police. How did one grow up to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated veteran, White House Fellow, and business leader, while the other ended up a convicted murderer serving a life sentence?

Eligibility ● We have spaces for up to 200 students. ● Pilots has been recommended for students with an ACT composite of 21 or less, and/or first- generation. ● However, because of the new admissions requirements, we will admit any regular admit student with ACT 21 or below, and firstgeneration students with ACTs up to 23. ●Pilots is a great fit for first generation and multicultural students.

How to enroll… • Students identified for the program will be invited to attend an information session in Forum Hall from 12: 30 to 1: 00 pm on the day of enrollment. • Advisors will be given a copy to identify students. • Students interested in signing up will go to Holton 101 to enroll in the afternoon.

University Experience course Tutoring Academic help

EDCEP 111 University Experience Provides a general orientation to K-State life Teaches academic skills, campus resources, career decision making, academic planning, and personal/social issues Meets the K-State 8 requirement for Ethical Reasoning & Responsibility Is taught by peer instructors, graduate students, and K-State professionals who serve as mentors during the semester

• University Experience is offered for 2 or 3 credits in a lecture/recitation/optional lab format. • Sections AB, AC, AD, AE, BL, BM, & DC are 2 credits and do not require special permission. Students may enroll in one lab if desired. • Section CA is for athletes only. • All other UE recitations are variable 2 – 3 credits, depending on the number of labs selected, and students must be in the AC 15 student group.

Labs are optional guided study sessions that provide academic skills practice in targeted courses that students are taking. Students in UE for 3 cr. must enroll in 2 guided study labs to earn the extra credit hour. Students in UE for 2 cr. have the choice of adding 1 guided study lab, but it is not required. All UE recitations use this textbook: Student Success in College: Doing What Works!
