Ordering Adjectives How do we know the order of adjectives? There is a pattern that is usually followed when writing a sentence…… quantity, opinion, size, age, shape, colour, origin, material Example: The little, old, silver box NOT The old, silver, little box. That shiny, red, American car NOT That American, red, shiny car. Can you chose which of the following sentences are correct: A. We took a ride on a blue, old English bus. B. Construct some sentences about the pictures opposite, remembering to order your adjectives correctly. Do not use excessive adjectives, but make your sentences interesting. The flower is useful for suggesting ideas when constructing sentences. Think about the character in each of the pictures – what do you know about them? Do their actions tell us something about them?
