Japan ORCID survey – Do you have an ORCID i. D? • 52% of respondents are “registered and using ORCID”. Including “registered but not using”, more than 60% of respondents have ORCID i. Ds. • More than 70% of respondents in their 30’s and 40’s are registered with an ORCID i. D, more than 60% in their 20’s, and less than 50% in their 50’s and 60’s.

Japan ORCID survey – Why did you get an ORCID i. D? • More than 70% of respondents said they registered for an ORCID i. D “because it was required by a publisher when submitting an article”. • More than 46% of respondents were “curious and wanted to try ORCID”.

Japan ORCID survey – Do you agree with ORCID? • Asked if they agree with the use of ORCID by Japanese academic societies, 73% of respondents said “yes” (scale of 1 -5, 5 = strongly agree). • The group “registered and using ORCID” showed the highest level of agreement. • There was no obvious gap between generations.
