Nelson Mandela is a South African politician who served as the first Black President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
Before being elected as president he was a anti-apartheid activist and co-founded the armed wing of the African National Congress. In 1962 he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He served 27 years in prison, then 4 years after he was released he became the president of South Africa. He is a good example for the modern day as he brought everyone together in South Africa and this is an example for us at Roundwood Park.
