Optical illusions An optical illusion is an image that deceives the eye by appearing to be other than it is.
You are going to draw your own today! If you take a look at this shape, you can see that the lines and the pattern used make it look 3 D.
Step one You need to draw a diamond in the centre of your page, aim to draw a bigger diamond as this will make the other steps much easier. If you are using a ruler, make the vertical line (going down) 20 cm long and the horizontal line (across) 20 cm too. Connect the outer lines to make your diamond shape.
Step two Draw 10 lines going from the left outer point (where the arrow is pointing) of the diamond and space them evenly. If you are using a ruler, you could space these lines with a gap of 2 cm.
Step three Use the outer point of the right side and draw another 10 lines making sure they meet with the lines you made previously
Step four Shade every other line on the right side like the image next to it. Try to keep in the lines and make it as dark as possible.
Step five Draw 10 more lines on the bottom left section of the diamond always start from the point that the arrow is pointing towards. Space these out evenly like the other sections.
Step six Shade every other line in the lower left part of the diamond as shown in the picture (to the right).
Step seven Match up the lines on the bottom half of the diamond.
